In honor of Pride Month, our artist in residence Kee Merriweather will lead a collage workshop where participants will be invited to collage queer icons onto vinyl or cassettes. Our resident artist will also curate a vinyl playlist from the shop to accompany the session as a celebration of queer icons and musicians to the canon of musical history.

Cut and Paste is inspired by artists such as Tomotatsu Gima, Marcus Dawson and Walter Lobyn Hamilton. Materials will be provided by the shop and guests are welcome to take their creations home. All ages and skill levels are welcome ✂️🔖🎶

====

Cut and Paste is created and hosted by Kee Merriweather, a Chicago born and raised artist. Kee’s work explores the duality of collage and archives through printed matter, literature, research, pedagogy and archiving. Their work explores a range of themes within and beyond Black nostalgia, popular culture, and intersections of race, gender and class.

SCHEDULE
This workshop happens on June 6th, 2024 from 5-8pm

PRICING
These classes are being offered on a sliding scale. The top tier price ($20) class ticket is the actual cost of the class. If you choose a ticket price below the top tier you are receiving a discount. The middle tier price ($15) is for those who are able to meet their basic needs* but have little-to-no expendable income. Paying for this class may qualify as a sacrifice but it would not create hardship. The basic tier price ($10) is for those who have difficulty meeting basic needs* and paying for this class would be a hardship.

Please be mindful that if you purchase a price at the lowest tier when you can truthfully afford the higher ticket prices, you are limiting access to those who need the gift of financial flexibility. Being honest with yourself and your financial situation when engaging with sliding scale practices grows strong and sustainable communities. It also respects the work of teachers and creators. THANKS FOR BEING PART OF AN EFFORT TO ADDRESS INEQUITY AND INEQUALITY IN OUR COMMUNITY!!
